Points of Interest
Milford offers many advantages to residents and visitors alike. There is an educational system with modern facilities and excellent curriculum offerings, newly constructed/rehabilitated municipal buildings and town library, playing fields and parks for active and passive recreation, major shopping malls, a revitalized downtown, an active cultural center, a world class regional medical center with the newly opened Brigham and Women’s Dana Farber Cancer Center, and a variety of restaurants and hotels.
Milford is known all over the world for its unique pink granite, which was discovered in the 1870s and quarried for many years thereafter. Milford pink granite continues to grace the exteriors of museums, government buildings, monuments and railroad stations in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., and Paris, France. Some of these inactive quarries are located within the Walden Woods property along the walking trails.
